Rooting An Android Phone - Pros And Cons

Rooting your android phone means gaining access to the superuser rights . Okay now what is superuser rights ? By superuser rights i mean that after rooting you will be able to do the stuff that a normal user cant do like ,, removing the pre-installed apps , flashing a custom rom , overclock it , etc... Everything has some pros as well as cons, and the same goes for rooting .

      Pros :-
  • Flashing a custom rom
Cyanogenmod Custom Rom                                                           Cyanogenmod Custom Rom
  • Stay Updated : Usually it takes a long time for an update to come to your phone via ota. By rooting your phone you will get access to the latest android firmware .
  • Overclocking : Overclocking means making your system run faster than the frequency specified by the manufacturer. In short and simple words it will make your android run faster. Overclocking is also done in computers , it results in more power consumption and also produces more heating effect.Cooling agents are thus used to reduce heating effect and hence preventing hardware malfunction. But the heating effect in mobile phones is relatively less than that in computers. Therefore Overclocking in mobile phones is safe . But the frequency should be increased only by 10-20 % of the stock or else the battery would drain faster.                                                                                                                           overclock
  • Performance Upgrade And Increasing Battery Life : Lags in android are very common and are undoubtedly the most frustrating things about android. Basically an android phone lags due to low ram . Apps running in the background are the major cause of lower ram. Greenify is an android app which requires root permission and sends these apps into hibernation mode thus increasing the device performance and the battery life. Thus rooting a phone can give you a performance upgrade and increase the battery life.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                Greenify
  • Freedom To Uninstall System Apps :- When you buy an android phone with 8gb internal space , you don't actually get the whole 8gb space , what you get is around 4-5 gb of internal space , The remaining is used by the system apps. After rooting your android phone you can uninstall these system apps to free up internal space.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              systemappuninstaller
  • Gain Access To Awesome Root Apps :- After rooting you will gain access to many root apps like Greenify,Titanium Backup, Rom Manager , GL To SD , Roehsoft Ram Expander etc......
Cons :-
  • You Will Lose Your Warranty :- Once you root your android phone you lose your warranty. However a rooted phone can be unrooted again (unless a flash counter is being maintained) . Thus unrooting will return you your warranty back.                                                                                                  warrantyroot
  • The Risk Of Bricking : So this is the main reason why most of the people don't root their phone. Bricking means your phone wont turn on , it becomes function less. Depending on your luck you might get a soft brick or a hard brick. Soft Brick means that your phone gets into a bootloop which can be easily fixed by restoring or flashing the stock rom. Hard Brick cannot be fixed . They are caused by bad installation of rom, i.e. unplugging the cable while flashing or switching off the device while flashing.
